Dr. James (Jim) Shapiro has been practicing in our community for 30 years.  He is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, hip and knee related issues.  Dr. Shapiro uses some of the latest technology and techniques to diagnose treat, and rehabilitate musculoskeletal diseases and injuries of the hip and knee.  He gave a great talk relating to different types of injuries that can occur (muscle, ligaments, cartilage, and bone injuries, such as bruises, fractures and breaks) and types of repair, including surgical and non-surgical interventions.  Shared also some of the up and coming treatment options, not yet having FDA approval.  He stated that the most important thing when dealing with an orthopedic injury is similar to playing sports...create your plan, build your team and execute that plan.  Thank you Dr. Shapiro for taking the time to meet with us, sharing your knowledge and expertise and taking all of our questions!
